He spent 25 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit

06/13/2011

WCL sits down with Eric Caine to talk about his new life and the challenges he's facing since being released from prison.

In 1986, Eric Caine was arrested for the murders of Vincent and Rafaela Sanchez in their South Chicago neighborhood home. Caine claimed that he was tortured by police officers into confessing. In 2008, attorneys from the University of Chicago Law School's Exoneration Project took on Caine's case because of the growing evidence of torture by former police officer, Jon Burge. On March 16 2011, Cook County Judge William H. Hooks dismissed the charges against Eric Caine and ordered his release on the same day Burge reported to prison for lying about the torture of suspects.

Two months after being released, Eric is still without a job. If you or someone you know can help find Eric a job, please email us at wcl@windycitylive.com.
