ABC7's Jim Rose and Cheryl Burton are here to talk about the new Community Affairs special "Heart & Soul" which they are co-hosting and will air Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

This series of specials highlights African Americans in the Chicagoland area doing positive things for their community and children. Last year it won a Regional Emmy Award statuette.

Featured in this episode will be native Chicagoan J. Nicole Brooks. This Hollywood Actress and Ensemble Member of Lookingglass Theatre is the Director of the production "Mr. Rickey Calls a Meeting" now playing at the Lookingglass Theater. This production takes a look at the moments leading up to Jackie Robinson being called up from the Minor Leagues to play in the Major Leagues and how that meeting changed the history of baseball.

"Heart & Soul" will also look at the organization Girls 4 Science that believes in teaching young girls about the impact science and technology has on their future. Founded by Jackie Lomax, the girls are paired with women who are working in the field of science and engineering.

This edition will also feature a member of the Young Chicago Authors Lamar Jordan who was featured in the documentary "Louder than a Bomb". This young man from the Austin neighborhood has a way with words and hosts a monthly poetry slam where students from all across the city come to express themselves.

Finally, "Heart & Soul" features the company Artists & Brands who gives local artists the opportunity to be the voice for major companies like McDonalds through their artistic musical talents.
