The Black Women's Expo in Chicago at McCormick Place, August 6-7
Founder and executive producer, Merry Green, stops by the studio to chat with Val about The Black Women's Expo. The event kicks off August 5 with The Phenomenal Woman Awards Gala of which Val is the Mistress of Ceremonies.

The events honors 9 women who are doing extraordinary work in their respective communities and one youth-focused organization. Actress and singer Loretta Devine will provide the keynote message with our own Val Warner serving as the emcee.

The Expo provides informative seminars and exhibits primarily targeted to African American women and their families, but all are welcome.
Health and Wellness Pavilion -- Walgreens will provide screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and other diseases; University of Chicago Medical Center will encourage attendees to become "fit and fabulous" through nutrition counseling, lifestyle discussions, and exercise demonstrations to get people moving; Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will provide breast cancer screenings and information in its On the Go Mobile Unit.
Relationships -- There will be several panels to discuss all aspects of male/female relationships from what men look for in a mate to a discussion between six men and six women titled He Says, She Says.
Career Pavilion -- This pavilion will include a job fair with recruiters from major corporations who will conduct interviews onsite. Attendees are invited to bring copies of their resumes for job interviews.
Financial Literacy -- State Farm will provide workshops to assist women in their decision making for retirement, investments, and insurance.
Beauty -- Walgreens is bringing together representatives from many of its hair and beauty suppliers to provide information, product demonstrations, product giveaways and question and answer sessions. There's also a hair explosion for focusing on hair styling.
Entertainment -- Live performances include R&B chartbusters Anthony David and Avery Sunshine, gospel performer Maurice Griffin, and some of the best comedians on the scene today.
Relaxation -- The Relax and Renew Spa will be hosted by Dudley Beauty College and will provide spa treatments such as facials, manicures, and mini-massages to help attendees to relax and renew themselves.
Kidz Korner -- We never forget the kids who attend the Expo. They will have a space to play interactive games, attend storytelling sessions, exercise and play compliments of American Family Insurance.
Celebrities -- Reality television show hosts Niecy Nash, Shaunie O'Neal and Tiffany Davis will show another side to their television personas.
