Chow fun at Sun Wah (5039 N Broadway, 773-769-1254)
When it's wide and crunchy noodles we want, it's off to this Uptown institution for a heaping helping of the perfectly wok-seared chow fun, woven with the signature roast duck. $7.15.

Meatballs at Three Aces (1321 W Taylor St, 312-243-1577)
Rock-lovin' Three Aces gets sassy with modern Italian small plates, including the mother of all meatballsmade with Slagel Family Farm beef, served in a pool of tomato sauce laced with chili flakes and dusted with wisps of shredded cheese. They're also approximately the size of golf balls. $1 for four (25 cents individually) on Tuesdays, 5pm1am.

Maki at Tank Sushi (4514 NLincoln Ave, 773-769-2600) Late lunch?Early dinner? From 16pm, a selection of this sushi favorite's standard and wacky maki is half-price. Go for the sweet potato tempura and California rolls, less than $4 each.

We know what you're thinking: Cookies are not a restaurant dessert, they're a snack you keep in your pantry. But you're wrong. These sandwich cookies are in a different league than Oreos. They're more than twice the size, the cookies are more tender, the filling is lighter and creamier, andbest of alltwo come with each order. $2.

Old School at Fish Bar (2956 N Sheffield Ave, 773-687-8177)
Served in eight-ounce jelly jars, Fish Bar's cocktails go down fast and pack a punch. A riff on a paloma, the Old School blends Jose Cuervo with triple sec, simple syrup, grapefruit juice and a refreshing splash of Sprite, garnished with a lime wedge and served on the rocks. The acidity from the double dose of citrus complements the fishy dishes here. $5.
